I can't believe that Rowan is already one! This was our last session of his "Baby's First Year" series, and I can't believe how quickly it went by. I had so much fun hanging out with him and his family! If you've been following my blog for awhile, you know that Shey and Josh are actually dear friends of ours. Maggie and Rowan are great buddies too... Maggie affectionately calls Rowan "Ro Ro". It makes me laugh every time!
Anyway, Shey and Josh live on this gorgeous property in Culpeper, and I loved capturing Rowan at this age. He wasn't too excited about having his photo taken at first, but once we introduced a series of tractors, he seemed to like me again! Here are just a few from our session...
Shey is cheering because Rowan just threw his shoe... Ah, the things we do to make kids happy during a photo shoot!
I really love this next one.

This might be my favorite... what a cutie!

One more...
Happy (belated) Birthday, Rowan! I can't wait to see what the next year brings!

two are better than one! | virginia baby photographer

Last week I traveled down to Richmond to photograph two of my favorite babies! This was my second session with Will and Hudson (check out the first session here), and I had so much fun with them. When we started out, Will was really happy and Hudson wanted nothing to do with me. About half-way through the shoot, their temperaments switched! I guess that's what life is like with twins. :) It was so fun for me to visit with Shannon and Hatch, and I can't wait to see these sweet boys continue to grow. Here are just a few from our session...

I just had to include this one because it makes me laugh! Love it.
One more in the basket...
Shannon & Hatch: Thank you so much for inviting me down! I can't wait to see you guys again soon!!

jessica + chris | baltimore wedding photographer

Last Friday, Tim and I headed up to Baltimore to photograph Jessica and Chris's wedding. I've been looking forward to this wedding for a while because I don't typically photograph events in Baltimore, and I knew that the Engineer's Club was going to be gorgeous!
When I arrived at the hotel to meet Jessica and her bridesmaids, I could tell that the day was going to be perfect! Jessica looked stunning, and she was so relaxed. It made my job a breeze! She and Chris are just fun to be around. Tim and I had such a blast with them! The reception was amazing, and the guests were clearly excited to celebrate with the happy couple... I'm pretty sure that the dancing could have gone on all night! Here are just a quick handful from their day...

The gorgeous bride.

The handsome groom.
After getting ready, the bride and groom decided to see one another before the ceremony. We had plenty of time for photos, and they were able to enjoy their cocktail hour. It was just perfect!

I love this next photo. While we were taking pictures, the sky opened up and showered rain for about five minutes! Jessica was very quick to find cover!
Fun wedding party.

Married!

Love the details.

Jessica and Chris: Congratulations! Tim and I share your anniversary, and it's definitely a lucky day! ;)

beth + kevin | d.c. portrait photographer

I've come to really love engagement sessions. They're such a fun way for me to get to know a couple before their wedding day. And, needless to say, I had such a great time with Beth and Kevin when I met them at Theodore Roosevelt Island last Wednesday! The island was a part of D.C. that I'd never explored before, and it was just perfect for our session. The sun was setting, the light was gorgeous, and Beth and Kevin were really fun to shoot. They're so easy to hang out with, and I'm really looking forward to their wedding at Raspberry Plain this September!
In order to explore the island, you need to walk over a foot bridge, which then leads to several different paths and hiking trails. I'd definitely love to go back one day for a picnic! Here are just a handful from our session... (And, that first image is definitely my favorite. If I wasn't pregnant, I probably would have jumped up and down after I captured it!)

On the walk back to the parking lot, there's such a great view of the Rosslyn skyline. Beth and Kevin both work right in Rosslyn, so this was the perfect way to end our shoot.
Thanks guys! I can't wait to see you again in a couple of months!

joy.

In honor of Father's Day last week, Maggie completed a fun art project for Tim. I know this isn't a picture of the actual gift (which was a stone for our garden) but I just love how messy she got with all the paint! I'm pretty sure she had a blast.
